Slewing Rings & Turntable Bearings,Slewing Rings FAQS

QWhat is slewing rings?

ASlewing rings are sealed on both sides, lubricated with a high quality grease, can be relubricated via lubrication nipples and are particularly easy to fit. The bearing rings are supplied without gear teeth or,in order to achieve simple drive solutions, are available with external or internal gear teeth.

QWhy a Preload or Clearance of MRC ANGULAR CONTACT BEARING?

AAngular contact bearings require a minimum thrust load to keep the balls tracking at the designed contact angle. With less than the minimum required thrust load, centrifugal force will cause the balls to track at different contact angles on the outer ring and inner ring raceways. This condition will eventually result in premature bearing failure.Angular contact bearings with a high contact angle require a heavier minimum thrust load than a bearing with a low contact angle.Due to this fact, bearings with a low contact angle like the MRC PumPac® Diamond 8000BB series often work best in pumps where little or no thrust load is present and the loads are primarily radial in nature.MRC offers a wide range of angular contact bearings for various application conditions, including 15°, 29° and 40° contact angle bearings.

QWhat is angular contact ball bearings?

AAngular contact ball bearings have a contact angle so that they can sustain significant axial loads in one direction together with radial loads. Furthermore, since an axial component is generated when a radial load is applied, these bearings are generally used in pairs, triplex sets, quadruplex sets, or multiplex sets.

QWhat is Thrust ball bearings?

AThrust ball bearings are classified into those with flat seats or aligning seats depending on the shape of the outer ring seat (housing washer). They can sustain axial loads but no radial loads. For Single-Direction Thrust Ball Bearings, pressed steel cages and machined brass cages are usually used The cages in Double- Direction Thrust Ball Bearings are the same as those in Single-Direction Thrust Ball Bearings of the same diameter series.
